How to Get Rid of Cystic Acne

The Skin Radar May 31, 2018 0

It can be extremely frustrating to wake up with a mammoth zit on your face, especially if it’s a cystic acne - the kind that’s hard, painful and develop deep within the skin. And they usually heal but remain a painful lump for weeks. Popping the zit seems to be the quickest way to make the red spots on your skin disappear but you can permanently scar your skin!

Besides, you really can’t do that on a cystic acne. Contrary to what people think, cystic acne can be treated in 24 hours instead of healing naturally in months. So, read on to find out what exactly you could and should do especially when the ugly red spot appears the night before an important date.

First, tackle the swelling. Most experts recommend applying ice to the zit to reduce swelling and soreness. Ice-cold temperatures help constrict blood capillaries which in turns help reduce redness and bring down the swelling a little. A crucial tip at this point, do not pick on your zit! You may make the infection worse by pushing them deeper and make it spread.

Then, apply anti-acne treatment like salicylic acid serum or azelaic acid cream to combat the inflammation while unclogging your pores. Medical-grade Chái Sapphire is specially formulated to unclog pores, clear up blackheads and reduce sebum production. Remember that over-the-counter medicines that work on milder acne often have little effect on the cystic blemish.

Kill the bacteria. You can start with topical antibiotics spot treatment. Topical antibiotic destroys the acne-causing bacteria that are trapped within the follicle causing inflammation. SW1 Clear Bliss contains Clindamycin to prevent further infection, hyaluronic acid to restore moisture and aloe vera extracts to calm infected pores. This anti-shine, oil-free gel is carefully formulated to combat acne while preventing further comedomal outbreaks.

Little pinch of the needle. You may or may not have heard of cortisone shots being used to treat acne, but it works like magic! In a procedure called Pimple ER (emergency remedy aka highly effective cortisone shot), your doctor will inject a tiny dose of corticosteroid into your zit or cyst, to stop infection and inflammation in its track.

The best thing is, within a few hours, your pimple will start to go down and within 24 hours, it will disappear completely. "Pimple ER is not an ordinary cortisone shot," says Dr Low Chai Ling, founder of SW1 Clinic. "It’s an innovative three-step therapy to treat individual blemish as it utilises dermal healing topical and transdermal delivery of active ingredients to soothe your skin so that it heals flawlessly in the shortest possible time."
