Beauty Cheat Sheet: 10 Shortcuts For Lazy Girls Everywhere

Some people have it wrong about us lazy girls. The way I see it, laziness isn’t necessarily a negative trait. The less energy and effort one is willing to exert can, if approached from the right angle, beget efficiency, because it can lead one to find a faster, easier, better way to do things.

Contrary to popular belief, we’re all for spending time on our appearance. Thing is, we aim to be savvy investors, favoring maximum returns from minimal time. Of course, we want to look and feel our best; we just don’t want to spend a ton of time reaching our happy beauty place. Is that too much to ask? We don’t think it is, especially when it’s so easy to look good — darn good, actually — while speeding up and simplifying our beauty routine. With a few smart shortcuts, it’s possible to spend less time primping and still be a stone-cold fox. Call it the low-maintenance paradox: less effort, more payoff.

# Cheat 1: Roller Ball Applicators
Getting your hydration in has never been easier with Sloane Inc Youth Oil, an antioxidant-rich facial oil which blends its namesake rosehip seed oil with lavender for a formula that's protective, soothing, and overall rejuvenating. Perfect for dry or prematurely aging skin, as well as irritation and dark spots.

#Cheat 2: Lip & Cheek Color
Made for the girl on the go, Hardy & Co thought of a brilliant way to apply a flush of color to the lips and cheeks—with just one hand. Infused with acai stem cell extracts to rejuvenate skin while restoring a coveted blush and enhancing a natural-looking radiance to skin, Blush Flush is a lightweight fluid melts into skin for a natural glow with a subtle hint of color. This is what I call, makeup with benefits! Such a win-win. The special glass rollerball applicator also gives you precise control to create an ethereal flushed look effortlessly.

#Cheat 3: Lightweight Blurring Foundation
Technically it's a foundation, but this oil-free makeup feels like a tinted moisturizer that happens to have blurring properties to even out skin tone without the need for a heavy application. The lightweight formula gives ample coverage and hydrates skin, and the light-diffusing spheres in it give skin a naturally radiant appearance. This summer-friendly foundation also has SPF 20, which we all know is a daily must. I like how this innovative, lightweight formula provides more coverage, hydration, and optical blurring than a BB or CC cream!

#Cheat 4: Splash Masks
As much as we would all like the time to lay back with a luxurious face mask on three times a week, the reality is usually a far cry from that—very, very far from that. But that doesn’t mean your face has to suffer.  A new innovation called 'splash masks' are all the rage right now. Add to water, splash onto face and pat in for instantly softer, smoother skin and glowing, supple appearance. A 20 minute mask ritual now condensed into 15 seconds for an at-home spa treatment that fits into any schedule for a natural, quick glow.

This gem lives up to its splashy name. After cleansing your face, simply mix it with some water, and splash (or, pat) it onto your face. It's great for the on-the-go beauty fan and will get you out the door faster than any other mask on the list — guaranteed. The Blithe Patting Splash Mask in Rejuvenating Purple Berry is formulated with antioxidant packed berries to help leave skin looking brighter and more youthful. The splashing-then-patting action helps the mask to absorb quickly and efficiently for a quick and easy treatment that puts the face mask practically on the go. I'm also a big fan of their Yellow Citrus & Honey Mask, which helps to liven up a dull visage.

#Cheat 5: Get a facial when you sleep
While you’re catching up on some ZZZs, you might as well let your skin multitask. Hugely popular in Asia, sleeping masks are the easiest way to treat your skin right. More moisturizing than a typical night cream, these treatment packs should be “painted” on (with a brush or, more commonly, your fingers) before bed. Be sure to massage the mask in — your complexion, not your pillow, deserves those skin-pampering benefits! In the morning, wake up to a refreshed face. Consider it the next best thing to having a nocturnal aesthetician on hand.

Mizon's Good Night White Sleeping Mask is a moisturizing sleeping mask that works overnight to brighten the look of skin, leaving it looking more radiant, translucent and hydrated. Contains niacinamide for glowing skin, hyaluronic acid and glycerin for deep moisture, and botanical extracts to protect the skin from environmental stressors and irritation. Great for those with hyperpigmentation concerns.

#Cheat 6:  Fake a glow with some shimmer
The ultimate pick-me-up makeup, highlighter is one of those secret weapons that every lazy girl should have. On its own, it adds a shimmery glow to cheekbones. That’s perfectly pretty — but if you really want to harness its power, you have to get sneaky. Dab the tiniest bit of highlighter over concealer to brighten eyes, or apply it underneath foundation to create realistic-looking radiance. It’s the absolute fastest way to look like you just came back from vacation, even if you haven’t had a day off since March.

This sheer, champagne-colored powder blurs imperfections, highlights cheekbones, and illuminates any areas that light naturally hits with an illuminating gleam. Sweep this highlighting powder over foundation, bare skin, or dust it all over the face for a soft, ethereal glow that is lightweight and leaves a flawless, sheer finish.

#Cheat 7. Use a Facial Spritz
If putting on toner with a cotton ball is becoming too much effort (no judgment), grab an empty spray bottle from any beauty supply, and pour your toner into that instead. Then, just spritz away and bask in your genius laziness!

We like Hardy & Co's Dewy Skin Anti Ageing champagne mist for a quick perk me up. The product is formulated with champagne grape extracts to instantly refresh, hydrate and re-balance skin for a more luminous appearance. Its profound powers of transformation are derived from potent, highly active ingredients like lavender and acai stem cell extracts which impart unsurpassed antioxidant, protectant and anti-aging benefits while enhancing cellular metabolism.

#Cheat 8. In Shower Tanner
If you have three minutes to spare, you can get a sunless tan in the comfort of your home as you shower. It's that convenient. The beloved St. Tropez self-tanner now comes two shades now and still delivers the gradual tanning results that made it so popular in the first place. The almond-oil–infused self tanner hydrates skin as you tan builds. In just three uses (for a total of nine minutes), you'll see a gorgeous glow.

#Cheat 9: Coconut Oil
Runway models' best beauty secret isn't their great DNA. OK, yes, it is, but after that? Coconut oil. Models like Maryna Linchuk and Frida Gustavsson buy jars of the stuff at the grocery store and slather it over their arms and mile-long legs. "Coconut oil is so rich in fatty acids, it's a great moisturizer," says cosmetic chemist Ni'kita Wilson. "And it's also a dry oil, so it gets absorbed quickly, leaving behind a glow, not shine." The miracle oil has the same effects on dry hair, too. Coarse- and thick-haired types can use it as a shine serum, a deep conditioner, and blow-dry prep.

Skinny & Co Coconut Oil
USD $36, available at Skinnyandcompany.com

#Cheat 10: The Do-It-All Hair Product
This do-it-all product is so much more than a hair detangler. It contains a blend of soy, cocoa and argan oil that nourishes hair and leaves it silky soft without weighing it down. It also zaps flyaways and humidity-induced frizz while protecting hair from heat and the color-fading rays of the sun.
