Determining Your Face Type: Sugar/Dairy/Wine/Gluten

There are several schools of thought on the topic of food and how it affects your skin. Some say acne increases in direct proportion to the amount of chocolate you eat, some say there is no correlation and naturopath and skincare specialist Nigma Talib says the second a patient walks into her clinic she can immediately tell the sort of foods they eat just by checking the way their face is aging.

The thinking is that your skin is related to your digestive health, so you might see certain parts of your face reacting to stress in your gut, depending on the types of food or drink you are intolerant to. We'll leave it up to you to decide if or how her illustrations will affect your habits, but in case you wondered whether your coffee was causing your dark circles, or wine was flushing your cheeks, you might find her ideas interesting.
(+) 1. Sugar Face

Lines and wrinkles on the forehead, sagging under the eyes, gaunt look to the face, painful pustular pimples all over the face, thinning of the skin, a grey/pasty white hue to the skin, thinner eyebrows.

It can disrupt the bacteria in your gut triggering pimples.

According to Face Mapping (an ancient idea that links parts of your face to organs in your body) your digestive tract is linked to your forehead so you'll see dry patches and pimples there. Spikes in insulin can put pressure on adrenal glands which in part control brow growth, so you can see thinning or sparse brows.

Cutting back on sugar can have an immediate and lasting impact on your face. For best results, cut out additional sugar entirely, avoiding cakes, biscuits, fruit juices, refined carbohydrates and processed food. Even if you just cut your intake in half and gradually wean yourself off sugar, you will notice rapid improvements in your complexion.

BOTOX® microinjection is a tested-and-true age elixir to ease out wrinkles etched by time. BOTOX® remains a well-tested and highly efficient youth elixir. Other than softening out ‘negative’ forehead worry lines and frown lines, it can positively influence your brows by correcting muscle imbalances to return heavy brows to a more lifted perch.

The Ultimate Eyelift Program brings abundance of youth-reviving collagen fibres to keep your gaze energized and electrifying.

Voluma High Definition Lift helps keep your skin supple, revitalized and effortlessly glowing from within, whilst naturally lifting gaunt hollows and saggy faces.

Pore Reduction Program attacks acne and its accompanying unsightlies from all angles with not one, but three blemish nemeses.

(+) 2. Dairy Face

Swollen eyelids, bags and dark circles under eyes, small white spots and bumps on the chin.

A common lactose intolerance can also affect the immune system leading to more inflammatory responses in the body. Just as a swollen ankle happens when you damage it, your eyes can become puffy and bags more pronounced.

The estrogen and progesterone hormones in milk cause your skin cells to over-produce which block pores, bind with sebum and cause spots.

Cut out all dairy products for three weeks and try taking primrose oil in the evenings, as it is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Eating foods rich in Vitamin A, such as eggs, liver and carrots, as well as Vitamin E, found in nuts and leafy vegetables, can also help to repair the gut.

The Eye Revival Program is a holistic treatment plan to uncomplicate your complex circles. Revitalift combined with Laser Toning corrects multiple ‘eye sores’ simultaneously – dispelling dark pigment, encouraging skin microcirculation, leveling out undereye hollows, delivering a deep hydration boost to ignite a lit-from-within glow, and restoring dermal elasticity for a sparkling win as you spring across the finish line.

For those fighting a serious battle with stubborn and severe acne, the Purifying Program uses FDA approved Smoothbeam® for long term acne clearance by targeting the root cause of acne --- sebaceous glands. This 6 step skin purification regime gives fast and furious refining and clarification, without redness or flaking.
(+) 3. Wine Face

Pronounced lines or redness between the eyes, droopy eyelids, enlarged pores, dehydrated skin with feathery lines across cheeks, reddish cheeks and nose, deep nasolabial folds.

Alcohol is dehydrating which worsens lines and wrinkles. According to Face Mapping , the area between the brows is linked to liver health, so you can see more lines here.Alcohol can cause capillaries to dilate resulting in flushed cheeks.

Dr Nigma recommend taking a three week alcohol break then sticking to the 80/20 rule. Abstain for 80 per cent of the time, and you can enjoy small quantities for the other 20 per cent. If you want to drink, opt for gluten free spirits such as rum, tequila or potato-based vodka. And if you want a glass of wine, try red instead of white or choose ones with a lower sugar content, such as sauvignon blanc, pinot grigio, merlot or pinot noir.

Don’t let gaping pores and textural irregularities blemish your skin. Get smooth with regular Deep Deep Clean facial which purifies bumpy clogs, keeps burgeoning breakouts at bay and coaxes open pores into refined obedience.

A flushed look makes your face appear irritated, painfully shy or downright flustered…on top of clouding your even glow. Tone down excessive redness with VBeam, the gold standard and gentle laser for minimising broken capillaries and generalised flushing to get your complexion calm and brilliant sans sensitising chemicals.

You’ve worked hard to look good all these years, but now you need a little hand to hold up the face against gravity, and to soften deepening wrinkles and folds. Try the Soft Lift Program. Self-resorbing threads are introduced into the skin via small injections to hold back the southward march of time in 2 ways: An immediate discreet lifting effect through elevation of a fallen jawline, cheeks or brows as the threads are tightened; and a gradual regenerative process over the subsequent months as skin-corseting collagen is stimulated for a shapelier facial contour while the 100 percent biodegradable threads slowly dissolve away spontaneously.

(+) 4. Gluten Face

Puffy red cheeks, dark pigmentation patches or spots around chin.

An increase in inflammatory reactions in your body, caused by gluten, can lead to bloated or flushed skin.If you react to gluten your immune system reacts which affects the reproductive balance, which can lead to hormonal pimples around the chin specifically.

No matter how many supplements you take or how many peels you have, nothing will make your skin look better than just removing gluten from your diet. Combine this with drinking more water and consuming more fibre.

For deep stained-in splotches such as melasma, Brilliant Skin Program employs Fraxel laser to bring about deep dermal renewal that improves both resistant and hidden spots, along with collagen rejuvenation for the radiant clarity and supple smoothness even sun-kissed skin would covet. The Divine Whitening Program takes an alternative approach with Pigment Laser to neutralize excess pigment for a fair, flawless translucency many Asian ladies dream of.

Clean & Clear Program: This fast-acting facial treatment regime keeps you in the clear with sophisticated science. No nonsense ultrasonic technology to deeply purify and de-clog pores is paired with NASA-invented LED phototherapy to disinfect, soothe and heal spot-stricken skin.
