How to Wake Up With Better Skin and Hair (for Real)

Beauty sleep is a real thing IF you take the time to indulge in a few easy tips and tricks. Some life facts—like waking up to a blaring alarm clock on a Monday—are tough, but we all enjoy it when we look and feel our best. Agree? Great. With that in mind, I’ve put together five of my most sacred editor hacks to wake up with better skin and hair overnight. Keep scrolling to try them out and tell us what you think!

(+) Switch to Silk Pillowcases

I’ve heard this one for years, most recently from Kourtney Kardashian, who swears by it. Silk pillowcases cut down on those pesky face creases and imprints and are said to reduce lines in the long run. Regardless of pillowcase type, I always try to sleep on my back for the same reason.

Your most comfortable sleeping state may not be the best when it comes to beauty. An important and oft-neglected contributor for accelerated skin aging is sleeping on your face. Microcirculation is hampered in compressed skin, and daily dragging of your skin for multiple hours also predisposes to crease and wrinkle formation. This trick is especially useful if you have long, fine hair like I do. It might be the last time of day you feel like fixing your hair, but I’ve found that brushing out tangles at night with the help of a conditioning spray or argan oil can result in amazing morning hair.

Argan oil is a fantastic oil treatment for weary locks. Simply warm it with your palms, apply to damp hair (and skin, while you’re at it), comb through, and breathe in the intoxicating scent. Say goodbye to frizzy, fried hair.
