The Bright Eyed Beautification Program - 4 Eye Enhancement Techniques For Bigger, Brighter Eyes

The eyes are said to be the windows to your soul. From time immemorial, beautiful eyes have inspired poets, artists and writers aplenty. It is no wonder why we continuously seek peeper perfection, especially for many Asians who are born with smaller and less-defined eyes. The Sloane Clinic’s Bright Eye Beautification program combines 4 eye enhancement techniques to help you achieve bright, mesmerizing panes to your soul.

1. HEAVY MONOLIDS

Almost 50 percent of oriental Asians are born with single eyelids. To make matters worse, the typical Asian lid not only has more fatty tissue but it also has a smaller and flatter underlying bone structure. All in all, that translates into a pair of smaller, ill-defined eyes with bulgy, heavy eyelids that tend to make you look more tired or inattentive when you are not.

Solution: The Upper Blepharoplasty is the single most sought after procedure amongst Asians worldwide. Excess fatty tissue or lax, hooded skin may be removed at the same time to relieve the excess weight on droopy lids. This helps to create brighter eyes; projecting an engaging appearance that’s representative of youth, positivity and friendliness.

Creation of natural-looking double eyelids can improve the eye contour and add dimension to your peepers.

“Creation of a double eyelid uncovers a portion of the natural eye contour. This gives you more attractive eyes that are bigger and rounder. This tends to visually lengthen eyelashes as well, by exposing what’s previously buried under the heavy lids,” explains Dr Tan Ying Chien about the universal allure of double eyelids.

The ‘Scarless’ Suture Blepharoplasty is popular option with younger individuals who’d like to have double lids without any incisions on the skin. A few simple stitches are placed along the upper lids to create a crease, making this a fast lunchtime treatment with minimal recovery time. However, this technique may not be suitable for those with a lot of fat in their puffy upper eyelids or in older individuals with excess loose skin that need correction with conventional blepharoplasty.

2. EYEBAGS
Eyebags are unwelcomed albeit guests of ageing and genetics. As we age, both men and women will start to lose elasticity in the skin around the eyes. Muscles also begin to relax, causing the lower eyelids to appear baggy. The effect can be worse in some people than others due to hereditary factors, excessive sun exposure or smoking.

Solution: If you are plagued with heavy eye bags that make you look older than you really are, you will potentially consider a Lower Blepharoplasty (eyebag surgery) to help rejuvenate your tired looking eyes.

Eyebags can be corrected by the removal of some fat from the lower eyelid area and redistributing the remaining fat. Compared to the traditional method in which there is just simple fat removal, ‘fat redistribution’ is a new technique the doctors at The Sloane Clinic use to avoid excessive hollowing over the lower eyelid area that is aesthetically unpleasing. This usually also involves re-suspending the outer corner of the eye. The re-contoured area below your eyes then smoothly extends to the natural contour of your cheeks. Repositioning facial volume loss under the eyes inevitably restores your look of youthfulness and vitality.

“When done well, a lower lid blepharoplasty can transform a tired face. Discuss with your doctor to be sure it is not overdone, or you may risk trading a puffy lower lid for a hollow, sunken lid that can make you look equally lifeless and drawn,” warns Dr Tan.

3. DROOPY LOWER LIDS
Sagging of the eyelids is a perfectly normal accompaniment to age, but a skilled plastic surgeon can eliminate sagging eyelids and transform your face into a more youthful work of art. A younger looking face can boost your self-esteem and self-confidence.

Solution: Canthopexy is a surgical tightening procedure of the outer corner of the eye, which may become loose or rounded with age. It can elevate drooping eyelids, creating an effective eyelift result.

Canthopexy is often paired with Lower Blepharoplasty (Eyebag surgery) to address cosmetic woes pertaining to the lower eye. These techniques work in harmony to restore youth and definition in your eyes.

4. PROMINENT MEDIAL FOLD
Prominent epicanthal folds shroud the inner corner of the eyes of many Asians, and can exist with single or double lids. This excess “Mongolian” skin fold make the eyes look smaller and more widely spaced, hence further expanding the featureless central flatland in those with low oriental nose bridges.

Solution: The latest Epicanthoplasty techniques can help you unveil natural-looking almond eyes permanently, without any conspicuous scars.

Medial Epicanthoplasty- This procedure focuses on the inner corner of the eye, removing the excess fold to reveal the medial portion of the eyes. As a result, the inner corners of the eyes widens; unveiling a pair of larger, attractive peepers.

On the other hand, Lateral Canthoplasty helps to lengthen the outer corners of your eye and correct a slant that makes an eye appear droopy or tired.

The approximate downtime for this surgery is a week. This varies with each individual as this is dependent on each patient’s unique healing ability.
